The Winter Tolkien Trail Race is an 11.1km trail running event held at Stonyhurst College in Hurst Green, Clitheroe, Lancashire. The course, inspired by the landscapes that influenced J.R.R. Tolkien, runs in reverse compared to the summer version, starting on the college's historic avenue and passing through scenic spots like "Mount Doom," Tolkienesque woodlands, the Ribble River, and Cromwell Bridge. With 528 feet of elevation, runners experience challenging terrain including steps out of "Fangorn Forest." The event offers a festive atmosphere with race medals, goodies, professional photography, a fully marshalled course, an event village with refreshments, free parking, first aid, chip timing, and prizes for top finishers and best fancy dress.
