Overview

The Winter Tolkien Trail Race is scheduled for 13 December 2025 at Stonyhurst College, Hurst Green, Clitheroe, Lancashire (BB7 9PZ). The course is 11.1 km with 528 ft of elevation. The route is run counter-clockwise around the Tolkien Trail, starting and finishing at Stonyhurst College. The route passes through Hurst Green village, a field nicknamed "Mount Doom", a Victorian aqueduct, the Ribble River, Cromwell Bridge and areas of ancient woodland with a stepped climb from the forest section. The venue and landscape are linked to the stories The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit.

Practical information

Entry required participants to be 18 or older. The published entry fee was £25.00. The event offered on-site parking on Stonyhurst College grounds and operated a one-way parking system with marshal directions. Registration was located outside the front of Stonyhurst College. Entry inclusions listed by the organiser included a race medal and goodies, professional photography, a fully flagged and marshalled course, an event village with food and drinks, free on-site parking, professional first aid, chip timing and prizes for top finishers and best fancy dress.
