The Saltmarsh 75

South Woodham Ferrers, United Kingdom • 4 Oct 2026

The Saltmarsh Ultra

The Saltmarsh Ultra is a coastal ultramarathon along the Essex saltmarsh coastline, traditionally between South Woodham Ferrers and Salcott. The 2026 route is described as circa 50 miles and is planned to finish at Maldon Promenade Park. The listed start location is Marsh Farm Country Park, Marsh Farm Rd, South Woodham Ferrers, CM3 5WP.

The event is open to runners and walkers and includes generous cut off times. All participants are tracked via individual GPS and must physically check in at designated checkpoints. GPS tracking is available to participants and can be shared with family or friends via an app.

Route GPX files are provided for download. The course will be waymarked at key points but not extensively, so carrying a GPX file on a watch or a map is recommended. Participant information contains details on cut off times, mandatory kit, bag drop arrangements and aid station provisions.

The ultramarathon is fully supported with aid stations and checkpoints at regular intervals, typically around 10-15 km. Hot food and drinks are noted at locations such as the halfway point in Steeple. A designated First Aid team, agreements with local landowners and a 4x4 access team are in place to assist in remote areas. A shuttle option is available to transfer participants between the finish and the start lines before the event.

Due to the remote nature of the course, aid stations and the route may change if seawall works or accessibility issues arise. The event is cupless; recyclable paper cups are provided for hot drinks at some stations but not all. At the finish, participants receive an H&T Running Saltmarsh 75 bespoke medal, a goody bag and a finisher t-shirt. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
