Coastal Ultramarathon in Essex

The Saltmarsh 75 is a long-distance coastal event held along the Essex Saltmarsh coastline. The course spans approximately 75 miles (120 km) between South Woodham Ferrers and Salcott. The event is open to both runners and walkers.

Participants can choose from several entry formats:

  • 75 miles continuous ultramarathon
  • 75 miles traditional two-day format
  • Three-person relay teams for single days, two days, or continuous entries

The route follows the coastline and includes terrain such as seawalls and long grass. While the course is marked at key locations, it is not extensively signposted. Participants are advised to use GPX files on a watch or carry digital or hard copies of the map. Individual GPS trackers are provided to all participants for safety and to allow friends and family to monitor progress via an app.

The event is fully supported with aid stations located at intervals of approximately 10 km to 15 km. Hot food and drinks are provided at specific points, such as Steeple and Tollesbury. This is a cupless event, meaning participants must bring their own hydration vessels. Shuttle services are available to transport participants between the start and finish lines. Finishers receive a bespoke medal, a t-shirt, and a goody bag. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
