Event

The Pendine Sands Races take place on 5 April 2026 at Pendine Sands, with the start / finish next to Barnacles Cafe, Sea View, Pendine, SA33 4NY (what3words ///steepest.daisy.leafing). The organiser is Ultra Running Ltd. Race start and time limits depend on local tide tables and will be confirmed before the event. Entry fees are: 5k £25, 10k £30, Half Marathon £35, Marathon £45, Ultra £55. All finishers receive a bespoke Pendine medal and race champions receive bespoke trophies. Podium prizes recognise top male and female finishers.

Course and distances

The course is an all-beach out-and-back route of 3.28 miles (5.28 km) per full lap. Distances and formats are:

  • 5k - 2.5 km out and back, total 5 km.
  • 10k - one full out-and-back, total 10.5 km.
  • Half Marathon - two full out-and-backs.
  • Marathon - four full out-and-backs.
  • Ultra - five full out-and-backs, total 32.8 miles.

The event is cup-free. There are four self-serve water stations; competitors must bring a reusable cup. Water Station 1 is at the start/finish, Stations 2 and 4 at the 2.5 km midpoint (5k turn), and Station 3 at the 5.28 km turning point.

Entry, rules and safety

Minimum ages stated for distances are 16 for the half marathon and 18 for the marathon and ultra. Race numbers are collected at the start location on the day. Entries are non-refundable; transfers or deferrals are allowed up to four weeks before the event. Competitors must carry mandatory kit including a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, map, compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone, emergency food and a basic first-aid kit. Checkpoint opening speeds are based on an average allowance of 4.0 miles per hour; participants falling below this may be pulled from the race.
