The ONER Ultra Trail Run
The ONER is a long distance coastal foot race along the Jurassic Coast. The route covers approximately 140KM (about 85 miles) and is intended to be completed within 30 hours. The event typically attracts around 100 runners and follows coastal footpath, beaches and tracks, including the full circumnavigation of Portland. The course crosses exposed cliff areas and includes sections run during hours of darkness. If access to parts of the planned route is restricted an alternative route such as an out and back may be used.
Event headquarters and registration are at Masonic Lodge Portland, Victoria Square, Portland, Dorset, DT5 1AL. Checkpoints are located at roughly 10 KM intervals. Each checkpoint logs times, offers energy bars, jelly babies, salty snacks, filled rolls, water, squash and coke; the halfway point serves hot food and the finish point offers hot homemade soup. Medical cover and event medics are available at checkpoints and at registration.
Entry fee is £210 and includes a GPS tracker, event branded t-shirt, food and drink at checkpoints, transport between the event HQ and the start and finish, a bespoke finisher medal, free parking at HQ, medical cover, on-course support and mini bus pick up for retired participants, and an event information pack.
Participants must carry mandatory kit including a means of navigation, actions on sheet, whistle, compass, waterproof top, long trousers or tights, gloves, hat, emergency nutrition, torch with spare batteries, more than 400 ml of drink, a lightweight warm layer, a charged mobile phone and a waterproofed notepad and pencil. Checkpoint cut off times enforce a minimum pace; runners outside the required pace will be asked to retire and will be transported back to HQ.
