The Maverick Dark Oxfordshire Trail 2026

The event is a night trail run set at Stonor Park, Henley-on-Thames, in the Chiltern Hills. The estate is split by the River Thames and is home to fallow deer and occasional wallabies. Courses follow estate trails and are fully marked and fully timed, with online results and event photography provided.

There are three route options, with different distances and elevation gains:

  • Long route: 17 km, +494 m elevation
  • Middle route: 12–13 km, +361 m elevation
  • Short route: 7 km, +100 m elevation

There is no outpost on the Short route; the Middle and Long routes each have one outpost offering snacks, gels and electrolyte top-ups. There are no toilets on the run routes; toilets are available within the start/finish area. Free parking, a bag drop area and a metal finishers medal are provided. Organisers request that all runners finish within 2.5 hours to reduce marshal time on course.

Runners must carry a head torch or chest torch and are advised to bring a phone, trail shoes, rain coat, long sleeve top, foil blanket and a refillable bottle or pack. The event aims to be cup-free at outposts. Dogs are not permitted at this Dark Series event and headphones are not allowed so participants remain aware of their surroundings.
