The Maverick Dark Oxfordshire Trail 2026

The Maverick Dark Oxfordshire Trail is a night trail run held at Stonor Park, Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire (RG9 6HF). Routes run across estate trails that pass through Chiltern Hills terrain and wildlife habitat where fallow deer and wallabies have been seen.

There are three route options:

  • Long: 17 km, +494 m elevation
  • Middle: 13 km, +361 m elevation
  • Short: 7 km, +100 m elevation

The Short route has no outpost. The Middle and Long routes each have one outpost offering a range of sweet and savoury snacks, gels and electrolyte. There will not be pre-filled water cups at outposts; participants should carry a reusable cup or bottle for self-serve water barrels. The event aims to be plastic free and asks runners to bring their own cup.

Course features include dark and rooty sections; the route is fully marked and timed. There are no toilets along the route; toilets are available in the start and finish area. Headphones are not permitted. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a participating adult. Organisers ask that runners aim to finish within 2.5 hours to help reduce marshal time on course.

Essential items listed by the organisers include a headtorch or chest torch, trail shoes and a water bottle or running pack. Amenities at the event include parking, bag drop, online results and event photography. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
