The Maverick Dark Oxfordshire Trail 2026

The event is a night trail run held at Stonor Park, Henley-on-Thames, set within the Chiltern Hills and split by the River Thames. The estate contains fallow deer and has occasionally recorded wallabies. The course is routed around the estate and is run after dark with headtorches required.

There are three route options:

  • Long: 17 km, +494 m elevation
  • Middle: 13 km, +361 m elevation
  • Short: 7 km, +100 m elevation

The Middle and Long routes each have one outpost offering sweet and savoury snacks, gels and electrolyte. There is no outpost on the Short route. Outposts do not provide pre-filled cups; runners should carry a reusable cup or bottle to use the self-serve water barrels. The event aims to be plastic free and requests reusable cups.

The course is fully marked and fully timed, with online results and event photography. Toilets are available only within the start and finish area; there are no toilets along the route. Headphones are not permitted and dogs are not allowed for Dark Series events. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a participating adult. Entries are subject to a small booking fee; online entry closes on Wednesday 4 November 2026 at 12:00 noon and on-the-day entries may be available if the event is not sold out. Transfers are permitted once and must be completed by the Monday before the event. Organisers ask that runners finish within 2.5 hours to reduce marshal exposure.
