The Forge Trail Run Festival

The Forge Trail Run Festival takes place on November 14, 2026 in Lemont, Illinois, with the start and finish located at The Forge (227 Heritage Quarries Dr.). The event uses single and double track trails through woods and some gravel sections around the historic Lemont Quarries and the I&M Canal.

Distances offered:

  • 10K : one lap
  • 20K (Half Marathon) : two laps
  • 30K : three laps
  • 60K : six laps

The course is guided by natural terrain so total mileage may be close to but not exact to the promoted distances. Gravel sections are described as flat. Single-track segments have variable surfaces including dirt, grass, rocks, mud, roots, mulch and occasional stumps, with a few short steep inclines and downhills. There are no significant elevation changes overall.

Organizers provide a staffed aid station at about mile 6.2 for runners beginning additional laps in the longer events; there is no aid station on the 10K. Participants are advised to carry hydration and fuel and to limit use of disposable cups. Trail running shoes are recommended. The event has a participant cap of 400 and awards for 1st through 3rd overall male and female finishers in each distance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
