Course, aid and logistics
Courses run on single and double-track trails through woods and on some gravel around the historic Lemont Quarries and the I&M Canal. Gravel sections are flat. Single-track sections have variable surfaces including dirt, grass, rocks, mud, roots, mulch and occasional stumps and wildlife. A few sections are technical with several short, steep inclines and downhills. There are not any significant elevation changes. The organizers rate the course as moderately challenging for experienced trail runners and more difficult for runners less familiar with trails. Trail running shoes are recommended.
There will be a staffed aid station at about mile 6.2 for multi-lap participants; there is no aid station on the 10K. Participants are asked to carry their own hydration and fuel and bring refillable bottles if needed. Packet pick-up is scheduled on the day before at Pollyanna Brewing and on race day at The Forge. Parking is in Lots 1 or 2; athletes will use lots on the north side of the I&M Canal with a short walk across the bridges. Awards are given to 1st through 3rd overall male and female in each race.
