Take the Fell at Beacon Fell Country Park

Take the Fell is a trail running event held at Beacon Fell Visitors Centre, Beacon Fell Country Park, Preston PR3 2ES on Sunday 7 March 2027. The event offers two marked trail distances:

  • 10 km
  • 20 km

Full event information, including route maps, is sent to entrants approximately one week before the event. Routes are fully signed and personal chip timing is used. There is a three hour cut off time for participants.

Finishers receive medals. The event provides free photos and food options described as pie and brew. Registration is by pre registration only; terms and conditions apply. Age restrictions are stated for entry: 10 km entrants must be at least 15 years old on the day, and 20 km entrants must be at least 17 years old.

Basic trail running safety and etiquette guidance is provided in event materials, including staying on marked routes, carrying sufficient water and nutrition, and completing emergency contact details on the back of the race bib. A 5.3 mile fell race with 1099 ft of ascent around Rivington Hall Barn grounds, featuring road, rough trail and open moor. Entry on the day is available for a cash fee and FRA kit rules apply.

Pen Y Ghent opens the Yorkshire Dales Classics with an AM mountain course of about 12.2 km and 500 m climb around Horton in Ribblesdale. The race follows open footpaths, is run under FRA rules with mandatory kit and has a 350 runner limit.

A flagged 13.2 mile trail race on Saturday 6 June 2026 with over 2,000 feet of ascent along the Dalesway and Mastiles Lane; proceeds support Wharfedale RUFC and clubhouse facilities.
