Stromlo Running Festival
The Stromlo Running Festival is a trail running event held at Stromlo Forest Park in Canberra. The venue is a purpose-built facility for running and cycling, located on a site that holds historical significance regarding the 2003 Canberra bushfires. The festival is designed to be inclusive, accommodating participants of various abilities across a weekend of competition.
The event offers several course distances to cater to different experience levels:
- 42.2 km (Marathon)
- 30 km
- 15 km
- 10 km
- 5 km
- 2.5 km (Kids Run)
The marathon, 30 km, and 15 km races typically take place on the first day of the festival, while the 10 km, 5 km, and 2.5 km events are held on the second day. All participants must start at their registered time, as starting outside the allocated wave results in disqualification for awards or adjusted elapsed times.
Race bibs are available via pick-up only. Collection is possible during the week prior at the Canberra and Region Visitor Information Centre, or at the Stromlo Forest Park Event Hub on the Friday evening and race mornings. The festival includes a recovery hub provided by the University of Canberra, where students offer post-run support. The facility also features paid parking spaces and accessibility for local and interstate travelers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
