Standhope Ultra Challenge
Ketchum, United States • 24-26 Jul 2026
Event overview
The Standhope Ultra Challenge takes place July 24–26, 2026 in the Pioneer Mountains in Central Idaho, with Ketchum, ID listed as the nearby town. The event features backcountry trail running on remote, high-elevation terrain. Organizers note there are no early starts for 2026. Every aid station is hiked in and mountain weather can change quickly. All finishers receive a handcrafted award. Registration closes July 24.
Races and logistics
- 100 Mile: A backcountry route with over 23,000 feet of climbing across remote wilderness trails and long stretches between aid stations. There is no qualifying requirement this year.
- 60K: A 37.2-mile course with about 9,000 feet of vertical gain, high ridgelines, steep climbs, and mountain lakes.
- 30K: Covers the second half of the 60K course, with over 4,300 feet of climbing, an average of about 325 feet of climb per mile, and an expected finish window of roughly 4–6 hours on foot.
A shuttle van is offered for 30K and 60K participants but requires a separate ticket and must be purchased by July 17. After that date participants need to arrange their own transport. The course description emphasizes steep, technical trails and remote conditions; many runners do not finish even with training and preparation.
