Southern Rail Trail returns for a second edition on 30 May 2026, organised by Elite Energy. The event is staged along the Great Southern Rail Trail in South Gippsland and passes through forests, rolling farmland, small towns and restored trestle bridges. The route offers views toward Wilsons Promontory and follows sections of the former Great Southern Railway.

  • 100 km Port Welshpool Old ferry terminal car park to Leongatha rail precinct
  • 72 km Port Welshpool Old ferry terminal car park to Leongatha rail precinct
  • 42.2 km Fish Creek Community Gardens to Leongatha rail precinct via a 3 km out-and-back
  • 21.1 km Stony Creek to Leongatha rail precinct
  • 10 km Leongatha rail precinct out and back
  • 5 km Leongatha rail precinct out and back
  • 5 km Kids option for ages 15 and younger
  • 2 km short run option

Team entries are offered for some distances, including multi-person teams for the 100 km and 72 km events. Entry pricing is published in release tiers. The organiser plans to be pin free by 2026; participants may purchase reusable BibSnaps as part of entry or buy them at the event, or bring pins if preferred. Join the Deb Rielly Run for the Kids in Kilcunda for community fun and scenic routes along the Rail Trail and coastal walk. Multiple distances for all ages and abilities, with proceeds supporting DFNC junior development and local causes.
