The Southern Rail Trail event returns in 2027 for its second running after a 2025 debut. It takes place in Leongatha, Victoria, using sections of the Great Southern Rail Trail and nearby trail precincts.
The course travels through Gippsland landscapes, including forested sections, rolling farmland and several heritage trestle bridges. Several distances use linear point-to-point courses between towns while shorter distances use the Leongatha rail trail precinct for out and back runs.

- 100 km Port Welshpool to Leongatha rail trail precinct
- 72 km Port Welshpool to Leongatha rail trail precinct
- 42.2 km Fish Creek community gardens to Leongatha via out and back section
- 21.1 km Stony Creek to Leongatha rail trail precinct
- 10 km Leongatha rail trail precinct out and back
- 5 km Leongatha rail trail precinct out and back
- 2 km short distance option
- 5 km Kids for ages 15 and younger
Team entry categories are offered for selected long distances. Registration is shown with staged releases and listed entry fees for each distance.
