Santa Cruz Island EcoExtreme 2026 is a 13.1 mile wilderness trail run on Santa Cruz Island in Channel Islands National Park, Ventura, California. The course departs and returns to Prisoners Cove and travels from sea level through Nature Conservancy wilderness areas, across the central valley, island highlands, peaks, valleys, and mountains.

Entries are limited and regulated by the National Park Service. The event uses Island Packers boat transport assigned to the race for participant transit to and from the island. Race organizers provide aid stations along the course and a complimentary after race lunch on the island.

The course includes steep single track sections where walking may be required. There is a cutoff policy at the second to last aid station to allow search and rescue personnel to return participants to the start by 4 wheel drive before the boat departs. The course may be changed on race day for reasons including weather, marine conditions, permit restrictions, research conflicts, or other factors outside organizer control.

The event is organized as a non profit and supports the Ventura County Sheriff's Volunteer Search and Rescue unit. Registration opens June 20, 2026. Race packets are distributed on race day at Island Packers in Ventura Harbor. There are no refunds and no planned backup date in case of cancellation.
