Run of the Mill

The Run of the Mill is a hill race held in Alva, Clackmannanshire. The event takes place in Alva Glen, near the golf club. Registration is at the Alva Scout Hall on Johnstone Park.

The course covers a distance of 14.6 km with 966 m of ascent. The route starts in Alva Glen and follows a footpath through Ochils Woodland Park to Tillicoultry. Runners then ascend the hills on the east side of the glen to visit several summit checkpoints, including Andrew Gannel Hill, Ben Cleuch, Ben Ever, and The Nebit. The flagged section after the golf course leads to the finish back in Alva Glen.

Entry and Facilities

  • Entry costs £6 if registered in advance, with limited on-the-day entry for £8.
  • Car parking is available in and around Alva.
  • Toilets and limited facilities are available at the scout hall.
  • Runners are required to carry full waterproof body cover, hat, gloves, a compass, a whistle, and a suitable map.
  • Participants are advised to bring a mug for tea or coffee at the finish.
