About the race
Run of the Mill is a hill race in the Ochils covering 14.6 km (9.1 miles) with 966 m (3,169 ft) of ascent. The course starts in Alva Glen, follows the footpath through Ochils Woodland Park towards Tillicoultry, climbs the eastern side of the glen and visits checkpoints on Andrew Gannel Hill, Ben Cleuch, Ben Ever and The Nebit before returning to Alva Glen. For 2026 the route includes a mandatory climb of The Nebit; this section was bypassed in some previous editions.
Pre-entry is required and entries are limited to 300; entries open at 17:00 on 12 September 2026 and entry fee is £10 plus booking fee. Registration takes place at Alva Scout Hall, Johnstone Park, Park Street, Alva, Clackmannanshire FK12 5LL, with toilets and limited facilities at the hall. Parking is available in and around Alva and tea and coffee will be available at the finish; participants are asked to bring their own mug.
All runners must carry full waterproof body cover, hat, gloves, compass, whistle and a suitable map. A map will be provided but runners are advised to carry a more detailed map of the area. The section after the golf course towards Tillicoultry will be flagged and runners should take care near traffic.
Prizes will be awarded to the first three male and first three female finishers and to the first male and female in each V40, V50, V60 and V70 category. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
