Raven Rocks Run

Raven Rocks Run is an annual trail running event held at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation in Cross River, NY. The event comprises a ten kilometer trail race on natural trails and a month long virtual challenge in November.

The on course terrain includes rocky climbs, ridgeline trails, hilly meadows, ravines, and the site of the former fire tower. A water stop is provided near the highest point of the course, around the four mile mark. The course may be adjusted for park or construction activity as needed.

The virtual Raven 100k Challenge runs from November 1 to November 30 and asks participants to walk, hike, or run 100 kilometers during the month. Successful challengers receive a custom finisher woodallion engraved with name and reported distance, and may submit badge claims to level up that woodallion.

The event reports results online after the race and maintains year by year result listings. Recent editions included several hundred finishers and a volunteer crew of about forty people; the race also works with local emergency services for on site standby. The event supports the Friends of Trailside Museum and Ward Pound Ridge Reservation; in one recent year over sixty participants joined the friends group and registrations raised more than four thousand five hundred dollars for the organization.
