RAF Spadeadam Blue Streak Trail Run
The RAF Spadeadam Blue Streak Trail Run takes place on an active RAF Station originally built in 1955. This location served as the test center for the Blue Streak rocket, an intermediate range ballistic missile. Because the event is held on military grounds, participants have the opportunity to run past historical sites and equipment that are not typically accessible to the general public.
The course routes pass several significant landmarks, including iconic launch platforms, military equipment, and practice targets. In addition to the military history, the paths offer views over the Lake District, Hadrian's Wall, and Spadeadam Forest. Participants can choose between two approximate distances:
- 14 miles
- 11 km
The event is open to individuals aged 16 years or older. All finishers receive a commemorative medal and additional items. Spectator access is restricted, meaning members of the public who are not running will not be able to enter the RAF Station.
Profits from the event are donated to the RAF Benevolent Fund, a charity that has provided practical, emotional, and financial support to members of the RAF family for over 100 years. Registration for the event is limited to a specific number of participants and typically closes a few days before the event date. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
