About the race
One of Bearsports' longest-running trail races, the Polar Bear Trail is held in a protected nature reserve in the Savelsbos, southeast of Maastricht. The 11th edition is scheduled for 10 January 2027 with start and finish at Velorium Outdoor Sports & Bikepark. The route goes through a protected hillside forest with steep climbs, technical singletrack sections, and a pronounced winter trail atmosphere.
The event offers three distance options with substantial offroad content and recorded elevation gains:
- 14 km, 275 m D+
- 22 km, 422 m D+
- 30 km, 591 m D+
The course is approximately 88 percent offroad and runs mainly through forest terrain. The event page indicates 1200 participants and allows group registration from a minimum of 10 people. Practical services listed include parking, bib numbers and program information, refreshments and aid stations, live tracking and results, and photos from previous editions.
