Point Mugu Trail Run

The Point Mugu Trail Run takes place in Point Mugu State Park in Malibu, California, starting at the Ray Miller Trailhead. The event is part of a series of six half-marathons in 2026. It offers a 21 km (half-marathon) and a 10 km trail race.

The half-marathon course is 13.3 miles long with 2,150 feet of elevation gain. It begins with a 3-mile climb on switchbacks with ocean views, follows the Overlook Fireroad, descends into Sycamore Canyon via the Backbone Trail, and includes a final climb up the Fireline Trail before finishing downhill. The 10 km course is 6.9 miles long with 1,240 feet of elevation gain and turns around at the top of the Fireline Trail.

All participants receive a finisher medal, race photography, a vegan-friendly taco breakfast, coffee, and access to a beer garden (for those 21+). Other event features include a sports massage area, sponsor giveaways, and an awards ceremony.

The event is cupless, meaning participants must carry their own hydration vessels. Age group awards are given for female and male participants in the half-marathon and 10k. Overall podium awards are given for female, male, and non-binary participants in the half-marathon. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
