Ouachita Trail 50
The Ouachita Trail 50 is an endurance event held in Little Rock, Arkansas, starting and finishing at Maumelle Park Pavilion #8. Organized by the Arkansas Ultra Running Association, this nonprofit event supports Pinnacle Mountain State Park. The course utilizes the eastern portion of the 222 mile Ouachita National Recreation Trail and Pinnacle Mountain State Park trails.
Participants can choose between two primary distances:
- 50 Miles
- 50 km
The route begins with two miles of pavement before entering a scenic, rocky, single-track footpath. Runners experience a climb over or around Pinnacle Mountain followed by an out-and-back section traversing hills along the north shore of Lake Maumelle. The trail is marked with blue blazes and additional blue and white striped ribbons. In the event of wet conditions, the course may be rerouted away from the summit of Pinnacle Mountain for safety.
The event includes eleven staffed aid stations for the 50 Mile distance and seven for the 50 km. These stations provide water, electrolyte drinks, and various snacks such as sandwiches, fruit, and crackers. Drop bag services are available for specific aid stations, including Northshore and Hwy 10. Both races have a 7:00 PM final cut-off time, with specific intermediate cut-offs enforced at various checkpoints to ensure runner safety.
Final finishers receive an award upon completion, and overall awards are presented to the first male and female finishers in open and masters categories. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
