MTC BANSHEE

The MTC BANSHEE is a single-day ultra running event forming Day 5 of the MTC MizMal® fourteen day end-to-end challenge. The course covers approximately 44 miles (listed total 44.4 miles) with about 1,989 ft of ascent and 1,994 ft of descent. The route starts at Limerick City Hotel and finishes in Dough, Miltown Malbay, County Clare.

Entry is limited to 20 race-only competitors with an additional allowance of 20 MizMal® competitors for a maximum field of 40. The event is the first edition and includes a bespoke BANSHEE medal for all finishers; male and female champions receive bespoke trophies. There are two published entry options with different prices and an optional race package that includes an embroidered race shirt and a lightweight hi-viz jacket.

The organiser provides mapping and GPX files to entrants only, emailed around four weeks before the event, and issues tracking devices with SOS capability for real-time monitoring. The race is cup-free so competitors must bring a reusable cup. Checkpoints are placed along the route; checkpoint food examples include malt loaf, sandwiches, sweets, squash, cola and water.

Safety and rules include a mandatory kit list, compulsory navigation equipment and provision of a tracking device. The event enforces preset cut-off criteria based on a minimum average speed of 4.0 mph; competitors falling below this requirement may be withdrawn. All deposits and payments are non-refundable, and there is an option to buy personal cancellation insurance at checkout. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
