The MTC BANSHEE is a single-day ultra running event scheduled for 11 May 2027. It is listed as Day 5 of the MTC MizMal® fourteen-day end-to-end series. The course total distance is 44.4 miles with approximately 1,989 ft of ascent and 1,994 ft of descent and a peak elevation of 738 ft. The race starts at Limerick City Hotel and finishes in Dough, Miltown Malbay, Co. Clare. This is the first edition of the MTC BANSHEE.

Route, checkpoints and cut-off policy

Most of the route follows the MizMal® line as supplied by Wild Atlantic Cycling. Checkpoints are on the course at about 9 miles, 17 miles, 25.4 miles, and 34.2 miles, with the finish at 44.4 miles. The event uses preset cut-off points based on a minimum average speed of 4.0 mph; competitors falling below this minimum may be withdrawn. Maps and GPX files are provided to entrants before the race.

Entry, kit and race services

Entry is limited to 20 race-only competitors plus an additional allowance of 20 MizMal® competitors (maximum 40). Entry fees are listed as £90 for the standard race and £155 for a plus package that includes a race shirt and hi-viz jacket if ordered at least four weeks before the event. All finishers receive a bespoke BANSHEE medal; male and female champions receive trophies. The event is cup-free and competitors must carry their own reusable cup.

Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, route maps, compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone, basic first-aid items and emergency food. Organisers provide competitor tracking devices with SOS functionality.
