MTC BANSHEE overview

The MTC BANSHEE is a single day ultra running event covering 44.4 miles and forms Day 5 of the MTC MizMal fourteen day end to end of Ireland. The route starts at Limerick City Hotel and concludes in Dough, Miltown Malbay, County Clare. The course largely follows the MizMal route used by the event partners.

Entries are limited to 20 race-only competitors with an additional allowance of 20 MizMal entrants for a maximum of 40 competitors. All entrants must be 20 years or over on the start day. Entry fees are listed as £90 for the standard entry and £155 for the Plus Race Package which includes an embroidered race shirt and a lightweight hi visibility race jacket subject to advance ordering. All payments are non refundable; a personal cancellation insurance option is offered at checkout and a defer option is available for a fee.

Cut off times are applied at checkpoints based on a minimum average speed of 4.0 mph; competitors who fall below this minimum may be withdrawn. Checkpoints on the route include Ballinphunta, Newmarket, Ballymacaula and Cloonbooly. Maps and GPX files are supplied to entrants four weeks before the event and real time tracking is provided via organiser issued devices with SOS functionality.

Mandatory kit requirements include a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, provided route maps, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid kit and an emergency food pack. The event is cup free so competitors must use a reusable cup. All finishers receive a bespoke BANSHEE medal and male and female champions receive bespoke trophies.
