Course, entries and support
The marathon is capped at 100 runners and runs mostly on dirt and jeep roads through backcountry sections with significant sand. Course highlights include the Arches Loop, Totem Pole, The Cube and Rain God Mesa. The half marathon is capped at 400 runners and follows a graded dirt loop road with a steep early descent that becomes a major climb within the first mile. The Wildcat 4-Miler follows the Wildcat Trail around East and West Mitten and uses the trail’s brown fiberglass posts for navigation; participants may jog or walk.
Aid stations provide hydration, medical support, Honey Stinger gels and chews, Gatorade, salty and sweet snacks, and fresh fruit. Portajohns are on course. This is a cupless event, and volunteers can fill runners’ bottles or hydration bags. Post-race activities include live music, presentations by tribal leaders, overall and age-group awards, and medical assistance at the finish. Average November temperatures are about 54 F high and 26 F low. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
