Meeks Mountain Muddy Mutt 15k
Hurricane, United States • 21 Mar 2026
Meeks Mountain Muddy Mutt is a dog friendly trail race held at Hurricane City Park on the Meeks Mountain Trails in Hurricane, West Virginia. The event is a 15K trail run that benefits the Hurricane Police Department K9 Unit and takes place on the third Saturday in March. The course begins in the park bowl, climbs to the top of Meeks Mountain, and descends via Quick Sands Trail, where sand and mud commonly mix. The route crosses train tracks, so runners are asked to be aware at that location.
Water and sports drink aid stations are placed along the course. Bathrooms are available in the park and portable restrooms are provided near the start and finish areas. Awards are given for first, second, and third overall male and female finishers, plus top male and female in each age group. Safety is supported by on call EMT staff.
Every finisher receives a long sleeved performance shirt featuring the Muddy Mutt logo and a finisher award. The event strongly encourages participants to run with dogs. Dogs must remain on leash at the start and finish and until signs indicate it is appropriate to remove the leash on the trail. Owners are responsible for their dogs at all times and must clean up after them.
Trails remain open to other users during the race and headphones are discouraged. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
