MD Heat Trail Race - Elkridge, MD

The MD Heat Trail Race on August 15, 2026 takes place in the Patapsco Pickall Area near Johnnycake Road in Elkridge, MD. The event offers two distances:

  • 50K
  • 25K

The course is mostly rolling single track with two river crossings and a short paved section through a parking area. Runners will encounter more than 2000 ft of vertical gain, a mix of technical rocky sections and smoother runnable trails, and several healthy climbs. The 50K is two loops of the 25K course. Competitors must pick up a wrist band at the Valley Overlook on each loop; showing the wrist band at the finish is required to be credited with a finish. There are three mandatory out-and-back sections that lead to aid stations where volunteers check bib numbers.

Aid stations are located at approximately 2.0, 5.25, 8.0, 11.5, and 16.0 miles. Stations provide Tailwind, water, and real food items; gels will not be supplied. Parking is on-site adjacent to the pavilions but is limited, so carpooling is encouraged. The finish area includes two large pavilions with shelter, food and beer offerings, and access to bathrooms.
