MD Heat Trail Race

MD Heat Trail Race, Patapsco Pickall Area, Elkridge MD

MD Heat Trail Race offers trail running options on the single track and wooded trails of the Patapsco Pickall Area. The course features rolling single track, two river crossings, a very short paved section through a parking area, more than 2000 feet of vertical gain, and a mix of technical rocky sections and smoother runnable stretches. The route includes three out-and-back sections; the climb to Valley Overlook is a required pickup point for a wrist band and two additional mandatory out-and-backs lead to aid stations on the back half of the course. Aid stations are located at approximately 2 miles, 5.25 miles, 8 miles, 11.5 miles, and 16 miles and provide Tailwind, water, and real food; gels will not be provided, so athletes should carry personal nutrition if they prefer it.

The event offers two distances

• 25K
• 50K

The 50K uses two loops of the 25K course and requires athletes to collect a wrist band at Valley Overlook on each loop. Parking is adjacent to the pavilions and start/finish area but is limited; bathrooms are adjacent to the pavilions. The finish area includes food, craft beer, shelter under pavilions, and access to water. Organizers welcome volunteers to assist with the event.
