Event Overview

The Ruth McKenzie Preserve Half Marathon takes place in Clovis, California, within the 2,960-acre Ruth McKenzie Table Mountain Preserve. This natural area consists primarily of grassland and oak woodland, sloping upward toward basalt lava table lands. The event features a variety of distances to accommodate different participants:

Course Details

The Half Marathon course includes rolling hills along dirt roads, sections of single-track trail, and a climb to the top of Table Mountain. The 10k and 5k routes consist of primarily flat to rolling hills. Participants will encounter rocks and ruts along the paths. The routes are marked with orange ribbons, orange flags, and directional signs indicating specific distances.

Aid stations are positioned along the courses to provide water, energy gels, electrolyte drinks, and snacks. For the Half Marathon, stations are located at miles 2.7, 4.8, 6.8, 9.2, and 11.1. The 10k features stations at miles 2.7 and 4.8, while the 5k has one station at mile 1.8.

Facilities and Amenities

Parking is available near the entrance of the McKenzie Preserve, with the start and finish lines located a short distance up a dirt road. All finishers receive a medal. After the event, the finish area provides water, snacks, and shade. Results are available on-site, and an awards ceremony follows the completion of the kids' races.
