About the race
The Primera Marató de Muntanya de Catalunya is in its 31st edition. The event comprises three mountain trail races that take place mainly inside the Parc Natural de Sant Llorenç del Munt i Serra de l'Obac. The organisation works under the park's supervision to design a circuit that minimizes impact on paths and on the park's visitors.
Distances:
- Marató - 41,140 km, 1.900 m ascent, highest point La Mola (1.104 m)
- Trail Sant Sadurní - 24,5 km, 1.130 m ascent, highest point Sant Sadurní (942 m)
- Sant Jaume - 12,250 km, 400 m ascent, highest point Ermita de Sant Jaume (590 m)
Participant limits are 200 for the Marató and 400 each for Trail Sant Sadurní and Sant Jaume, gathering approximately one thousand runners in total.
Mandatory material includes a drinking cup or container for all races; the Marató also requires a thermal blanket. In case of expected bad weather, additional items may be required - for example a waterproof jacket for the Marató, and a waterproof jacket plus thermal blanket for Trail Sant Sadurní. The organisation records each edition, evaluates environmental risks, proposes improvements, and aims to leave the environment as clean as it was found. The race is registered with UTMB.
