Le Grizz Ultramarathon

Olney, United States • 10 Oct 2026

Event Overview

The Le Grizz Ultramarathon & Relay takes place near Polebridge, Montana, just west of Glacier National Park. The race route follows a gravel road that runs parallel to the North Fork of the Flathead River. Participants pass through scenery featuring the Northern Rockies of Southern British Columbia and Glacier National Park, often amidst the autumn colors of changing aspen and larch trees.

The 2026 edition uses an out-and-back course format. The route starts and finishes at the Glacier Institute's Big Creek Outdoor Education Center. Participants follow the North Fork Road to a point just beyond Red Meadow Creek and include a short detour to an aid station located at the Polebridge Mercantile.

The course features approximately 2,300 feet of total elevation gain over the full distance. The terrain consists of undulating gravel roads with occasional gentle inclines.

The event offers several distance options to accommodate different types of runners:

  • 50 Mile Ultramarathon
  • 50 Mile Relay
  • 9.3 Miles (15K Run)
  • 3.1 Miles (5K Run)

Participants navigate a surface primarily composed of gravel, following an elevation profile similar to the traditional legacy routes of the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
