Courses run across rolling grassy slopes, sandy beaches and hills located between cliffs that overlook the Southern Ocean. Sections of the route pass beside green fields where cattle graze.

The location is about 90 minutes from Melbourne along the Bass Highway and provides access to nearby destinations such as Philip Island, Inverloch and Wonthaggi. Registration fees are stated as inclusive of mandatory charges. Minimum ages are listed as 16 for the 21 km, 12 for the 17 km and 10 km, and 5 for the 5 km, and a 40% discount is noted for eligible younger entrants.
