Hippo Trail Fest
Hutto, United States • 21 Mar 2026
Event Details
The Hippo Trail Fest takes place on March 21, 2026, at the Hippo Social Club in Hutto, Texas. The event supports the organization Keep Hutto Beautiful. Activities begin on Friday with packet pickup, a course preview run, a Q&A session, and a tailgate party. On Saturday, the event includes live music, a curated art and wellness market, a Recharge Zone with free cold plunge and sauna access, food trucks, and games.
Races
The event features several race types:
- Trail runs: 1 Mile (Youth), 5K, 10K, 10 miles, 20 miles, and 50K.
- Ruck races: 10K and 10 miles, requiring participants to carry a weighted pack.
- Hippo Haul: A 5K race where participants carry a weighted concrete hippo and complete mandatory exercise stations along the course.
Course
The course consists of a rolling 5-mile loop through a wooded trail system with some open areas and small creeks. Longer distances complete multiple laps, with a shortcut for the 5K and 10K routes. The event is cupless, so participants must bring their own cup or bottle for aid stations. Aid stations with snacks, fruit, water, and sodas are available at least every 3 miles.
Practical Information
Parking is available at the race site and across the street at Cottonwood Creek Elementary School. There is no camping on-site. Timing is chip-based, with official rankings based on gun time. Awards are given to the top three overall finishers and the top masters finisher (age 50+) in each race. Pacers are not allowed, and there is no drop bag service.
