Great Western Half Marathon & 10K

Fox River Trail Runners organizes a competitive, flat, out and back road running event consisting of a half marathon and a 10K on the Great Western Trail. The event continues a 25 plus year history of hosting these distances and is scheduled for Sunday May 3, 2026.

  • Half marathon
  • 10K

The course follows the western portion of the Great Western Trail and is surfaced with limestone. The route occupies a rails to trails corridor originally used by the Chicago Great Western Railway from 1885 to 1968; the path has been in public use since 1978.

Fox River Trail Runners will donate five dollars per participant registration, together with any participant donations above registration fees, to be split equally among three local non-profit mental health charity partners. In 2025 the club donation combined with participant contributions generated a total of four thousand dollars for those charities. Results and past race records are maintained for prior years.

Fox River Trail Runners is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation based in Geneva, Illinois. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
