Goyt Valley Challenge
Buxton, United Kingdom • 4 Oct 2025
The Goyt Valley Challenge is a scenic running and walking event held in the western Peak District, starting and finishing at Buxton Community School in Derbyshire. Participants can choose between two routes: a long 26.2-mile course with 4,000 feet of ascent passing through landmarks like Axe Edge, Goyt Valley, Shining Tor, Lamaload Reservoir, and Fernilee Dam, or a shorter 14.3-mile route with 2,000 feet of ascent covering parts of the same terrain. The event offers a supportive atmosphere with refreshments at checkpoints, a hot meal at the finish, and commemorative items for purchase. It is organized by High Peak LDWA and encourages well-prepared participants due to the challenging moorland terrain. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
