Goyt Valley Challenge
The event starts and finishes at Buxton Community School in Buxton, Derbyshire. It offers two route choices through the western Peak District and is organised by High Peak LDWA.
- 26.2 miles Long route via Axe Edge and Goyt Valley; 4000 ft ascent.
- 14.3 miles Short route via Axe Edge and Goyt Valley; 2000 ft ascent.
The long route passes Shining Tor, Lamaload Reservoir, Kettleshulme, Taxal Moor and Fernilee Dam. Parts of the routes lie within the Peak District National Park and cross moorland terrain.
Car parking is at the College Road entrance to the school as directed by marshals; alternative parking may be used if necessary. There is a bag drop at the event headquarters. Refreshments are provided at checkpoints and a hot meal is available at the finish. Limited water will be available at Checkpoint 1. The Fabian4 timing system is used and wristbands must be returned at the finish.
Under 18s are welcome but must be accompanied by a responsible adult; entrants who register anyone under 18 accept responsibility for that person. Dogs are not allowed. Entry is through SiEntries. Entry fees stated are LDWA Member £17.00 and Non Member £23.00. Non-LDWA members are not covered by LDWA insurance. No refunds. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
