Event Overview
The Golden Gate Trail Run takes place in Sausalito, California, with courses starting and finishing at Rodeo Beach. The routes traverse the Marin Headlands, offering views of the Pacific Coast, Tiburon, San Francisco, and the Golden Gate Bridge. Course Details and Support
Courses are marked with color-coded ribbons every 200 yards, with polka-dot flagging indicating upcoming turns. The Marathon and 50K events have specific time limits of 8 hours 45 minutes and 9 hours, respectively. All other distances have an 8-hour time limit. Fully stocked aid stations are positioned every 4 to 6 miles, providing water, electrolyte drinks, fruit, and snacks. This is a cupless event, so participants are expected to carry their own hydration vessels.
Participant Information
Check-in and bib pick-up occur on the morning of the event at Rodeo Beach. Runners who register at least 10 business days in advance are guaranteed an event shirt. All finishers receive a custom medal, and 50K finishers receive an additional custom coaster. Awards are also presented to the top three male and female overall winners in each distance.
Parking is prohibited at the Rodeo Beach lot; instead, designated parking areas are available at the Marine Mammal Center and along Mitchell Road and Bunker Road. The event does not allow dogs on the course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
