The Golden Gate Headlands race day on April 4, 2026 includes three distances:
- Marathon
- Half Marathon
- 10K
The event takes place at the Marin Headlands Visitor Center / Fort Barry in Mill Valley, California. The start and finish are at the Historic Gunnery Range in Rodeo Valley. The event is limited to 400 participants and is organized by Enviro-Sports.
Course and logistics
The course uses a mix of single-track hiking trails and fire roads with panoramic views of the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco Bay, and the Pacific Ocean. The marathon course consists of the half marathon loop run twice. Course cut-off time for the marathon is 6 hours; published pace limits apply for each distance. Aid stations: none on the 10K; one aid station at mile 6 for the half marathon; marathon aid stations at miles 6, 13, and 19. Participants are advised to carry water. T-shirts are provided to all participants. Personalized award ribbons will be mailed to the top three finishers, male and female, in each age group for all distances. Finisher medals are awarded for the full marathon and the half marathon. Athlete check-in is at the start/finish area across from the Marin Headlands Visitor Center; bibs are mailed and should be brought to check-in. Parking is on Smith Road toward Rodeo Beach and the access tunnel is one-way. Headphones and audio devices are not allowed on course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
