The 2026 Golden Gate Headlands Marathon, Half Marathon & 10K is scheduled for April 4, 2026 at the Marin Headlands Visitor Center, Fort Barry, Mill Valley, CA. The event offers three distances:
- Marathon
- Half Marathon
- 10K
The field is limited to 400 participants. The race starts and finishes at the Historic Gunnery Range in Rodeo Valley. The course follows a mix of single-track hiking trails and fire roads and passes panoramic views of the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco Bay, the Pacific Ocean, and coastal wildflowers.
Course, logistics and policies
The course is marked with orange ribbon. Marathon runners complete the half marathon loop twice and must check in at the finish before starting the second loop. Course cut-off time is 6 hours; cut-off paces are listed for each distance. Aid stations: none on the 10K; one at mile 6 for the half marathon; and aid stations at miles 6, 13, and 19 for the marathon. Participants should carry water. Finish-area food and drink are provided for all finishers.
Athlete check-in is at the start/finish field across from the Marin Headlands Visitor Center; bibs and safety pins are available. Parking is on Smith Road toward Rodeo Beach with attendants directing traffic; allow extra time to reach check-in. Headphones and other audio devices are not allowed. Registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable; a rollover credit option is available under specified conditions.
