Glass House Standing

Coochin Creek, Australia • 31 Dec 2025

Event

Glass House Standing is a Backyard Ultra held at Wild Horse Mountain in the Glasshouse Mountains on the Sunshine Coast on 31 December 2025. The course is a loop of 6.7 km. The event is limited to 200 entrants. Profits from the race will be donated to the Save Our Glasshouse Mountains campaign to oppose quarry expansion.

Format and rules

The event uses the Backyard Ultra format: runners complete the loop each hour and must finish each loop within the hour for it to count. Each loop starts on the hour and competitors must be inside the starting corral when the start signal is given or they will be disqualified. The winner is the last person to complete a loop on their own. Runners may not leave the course except to use the restroom. No personal aid or equipment handoffs are allowed on the course. Artificial performance aids such as running poles are not permitted. Head torches are required for night loops and a hi-visibility vest is mandatory for night running. First aid is available at the start/finish area.

Course, gear and logistics

The trail will be marked with reflective orange and silver flagging tape approximately every 150 m. Red arrows indicate the course and red crosses mark paths that are not part of the course. Mandatory night gear includes an Australian Standard hi-visibility vest and a headlight or suitable torch. Entry fee is A$185. Minimum age is 15 and anyone under 18 must have a parent or guardian present. Refunds are available until 16 December 2025 with a A$30 admin fee; transfers to another person or event are not allowed. Crew and spectators are restricted to the designated crew area and are not permitted on the course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
