Format, rules and logistics

A new loop begins at the top of each hour and each completed loop must finish within that hour to count. Runners must be inside the starting corral before the start signal for the next loop or they will be disqualified. Competitors may not leave the course during a loop except to use the restroom. Personal aid on the course is prohibited and receiving medical aid on the course will result in disqualification; first aid is available at the start/finish area. Head torches are allowed and are mandatory for night loops; running poles and other artificial aids that give an advantage are not permitted. The course will be marked with reflective orange flagging (approximately every 150 m), red directional arrows, and red crosses indicating wrong turns. Support crews and spectators are restricted to a designated crew area; no vehicles are allowed in that area and crew/spectators are not permitted in the starting corral. Refunds are available until 16 December 2025 with a A$30 administration fee; transfers are not permitted. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
