Event overview
The Genesee Valley Ultra takes place March 28-29, 2026 in Parkton, MD at the Genesee Valley Outdoor Learning Center. Runners have timed events of different durations and complete as many loops as possible within their event time. The event uses chip timing and awards are given to overall winners in each category. Ties by number of loops are broken by overall time.
Course and race format
The course is a 2.5 mile loop made of farm roads, grass fields, and some double track. Start and finish are at the same spot with a designated exit before the finish for refueling and relay exchanges. Solo runners may set up an aid table along the course prior to the finish and exit. The course is on private property and is closed for pre-race running; a preview is available on the Friday before the race.
Events, pacers, and logistics
- 24-hour - Individual and 4-person team options
- 12-hour - Individual and 2-person team options
- 6-hour - Individual and 2-person team options
- Pacer roles available only for individual runners. Only one pacer may accompany a runner at a time. Pacers must register, wear a yellow jersey, announce themselves at the timing area, and may not carry aid for their runner.
Primary race nutrition is the runner's responsibility; snacks and beverages are available on site. Volunteers staff the course exit to track on-course runners.
Camping and access
Camping is in a large grass field; teams may reserve a 10x20 space on a first-come basis. RVs and camper vans may not be set up in the camping area but can be parked in the lot. Pets are not allowed on the property. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
