Event Overview

The Genesee Valley Ultra takes place at the Genesee Valley Outdoor Learning Center in Parkton, MD. This chip-timed endurance event is held on a 2.5 mile trail loop located on a working farm. The course consists of a mix of farm roads, grass fields, and a small section of double track trail. Runners aim to complete as many loops as possible within their selected time frame.

Competition Formats

Participants can choose to compete individually or as part of a relay team. Relay teams for the 24-hour event consist of four members, while the 12-hour and 6-hour relay categories are for teams of two. Team members may exchange their timing bib as often as they choose within the designated transition area.

Course and Logistics

The start and finish lines are located at the same point, with a dedicated exit area for runners to access camp sites or refueling stations. Solo runners can set up personal aid tables along the course before the finish line. One hour before sunset, all athletes are required to carry a headlamp or light source. Pacers are permitted only for individual runners in the 12-hour and 24-hour events starting in the evening.

Facilities and Regulations

On-site camping is available in a large grass field on a first-come, first-served basis. While camper vans and RVs are permitted in the main parking lot, they are not allowed in the primary camping area. Basic snacks and beverages are provided, though primary nutrition remains the responsibility of the athlete. Pets are strictly prohibited on the private property.
