Fondren Urban Ultra

The Fondren Urban Ultra is a 12 hour timed road race for individual runners held in Jackson, Mississippi on April 18, 2026. The course uses a loop of 3.1 miles (5k) through the Fondren neighborhood with a mix of hills and flat sections. The event is chip timed and the loop begins and ends at Fondren Church, where participants may place nutrition, tents, and coolers. The 5k loop is USA Track and Field certified (MS17010MS) and will be used to record Mississippi state records for the 50k, 12 hour, and 100k distances; only Mississippi residents are eligible for state record recognition.
Details
The race is limited to 165 individual runners. Packet pickup is available the day before the race at Buffalo Peak and on race morning at the start/finish. The start/finish area includes an aid station with water, Tailwind, and sweet and salty food. A full 5k lap must be completed within the 12 hour time limit to be counted. Elevation change is approximately 150 feet per 5k loop.
Awards are given to 1st through 3rd place male and female finishers and all participants receive a medal; participants who complete the ultra distance of nine laps receive an additional item. Entry fee is $50, increasing to $60 on January 1. The event is organized by the Mississippi Ultra and Trail Society. There are no refunds, transfers, or deferments.
