Fondren Urban Ultra - April 18, 2026
The Fondren Urban Ultra is a 12 hour timed road race for individual runners held in the Fondren neighborhood of Jackson, Mississippi. The course uses a loop of approximately 3.1 miles (USATF certified 5k, MS17010MS) with a mix of hills and flat sections and about 150 feet of elevation gain and loss per loop. The course is chip timed and each loop begins and ends at Fondren Church, where runners may place nutrition, tents, coolers, and similar supplies.
The event is limited to 165 individual runners and has both a race capacity and a waitlist. Packet pickup takes place the day before at Buffalo Peak and on race morning at the start/finish. The start/finish area provides water, Tailwind, and both sweet and salty food at the aid station.
Results on the certified 5k loop are eligible for Mississippi state records in the 50k, 12 hour, and 100k categories; only Mississippi residents are recorded for those state records. Preregistration pricing was $50 with a scheduled increase to $60 on January 1. The event policy states no refunds, transfers, or deferments. Parking is available behind the church; pop up tents may be set up in the front parking area on pavement only.
The event is organized by the Mississippi Ultra and Trail Society, a nonprofit group focused on promoting trail and ultra running in the area. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
