Fetteresso Forest Marathon

Rickarton, United Kingdom • 8 Feb 2026

Event overview

The Fetteresso Forest Marathon is scheduled for 8 February 2026. The start and registration point is at the Hill of Three Stones entrance to Fetteresso Forest, half way between Stonehaven and Crathes on the Slug Road. The course is made up entirely of forest tracks. Runners must be 18 years old or older on the day. The course is unsuitable for standard wheelchairs. Running with buggies or pets is not permitted. The event had a total of 130 places and is listed as closed.

Kit and race rules

The event is run in accordance with the Rules and Regulations of Scotish Hill Runners. Competitors must carry minimum SHR kit for the entirety of the race; required items include a waterproof full body cover, hat, gloves, map, compass and whistle. Expect a kit check; no kit means no race. The race is cupless: a water station will provide water but plastic cups will not be supplied, and marshals can fill runners’ own bottles or cups.

Cut-offs and quiet zones

Organisers may enforce time cut offs at any point and may divert runners to a shorter route for safety or marshal welfare. The planned cut off is at mile 12.3 / km 19.8; failure to reach this point within 2 hours 20 minutes will result in diversion and omission of parts of the course. If diverted, runners still complete 19.7 miles / 31.7 km and retain finish-area access and a medal.

  • Quiet Zone 1: between 22.7 miles / 36.5 km and 23.6 miles / 38 km
  • Quiet Zone 2: between 24.9 miles / 40 km and 25.5 miles / 41 km

Facilities and route information

Toilets are provided in the start/finish area. No changing facilities or showers are available. The organisers reserve the right to modify the route if necessary.
