Fall Backyard Burn Trail Run - Fountainhead

The event takes place at Fountainhead Regional Park in Fairfax Station, Virginia, along the banks of the Occoquan Reservoir. The course uses hiking trails and a few old dirt roads and has been staged at Fountainhead by the organizer for over 15 years.

The race offers two course lengths and associated elevation gains:

  • 4.8 miles single loop, about 450 feet elevation gain
  • 10.5 miles 5 mile loop plus an out and back lollipop on the Bull Run Occoquan Trail, about 950 feet elevation gain

Parking and staging are near the main park parking lot, with cars placed in paved areas and adjacent grass fields. Race services listed by the organizer include aid stations, medical support, volunteer staffing, post-race food options, awards, give-aways, and race swag. Finish medals are available as an optional add-on.

A charity partnership with Homestretch is part of registration, offering an opportunity to support local non-profit services. A children’s race day program is also offered through a partner organization; the program includes nature exploration, activities, and a short kids race, and requires separate pre-registration.
