The course is a five-mile loop on the Ohio Erie Canal Towpath and the Olde Muskingum Trail, passing through the park and a camping area. Most surfaces are packed crushed limestone; the camping area section is short-cut grass. Road shoes are acceptable for the course.
Aid is centered at the main pavilion where a variety of foods are offered, including sweet and salty snacks, fruit, and hot food later in the day. Water is available along the course at about mile 1, mile 2.5, and mile 4. Only runners and their pacers should use the aid station area; relay runners should not wait in the aid area for teammates.
Relay teams may swap timing bands only at a designated start/finish spot. Pacers may join after a runner’s second loop, one pacer at a time, and may use aid station food and drink. Finishing medals and buckles are presented immediately upon completion of a chosen distance; no age group awards are given. Camping in the park is free; RV space is limited. The event is cupless, so runners must carry a reusable cup; cups are provided for coffee and warm soup. No refunds are offered; deferrals with 100% credit to the following year are allowed up to three weeks before the race and may be carried over for one year.
