Doctors Gate Fell Race
Doctors Gate is a fell race held on 21 February 2026 that starts and finishes at Hawkshead Mill, Hope Street, Glossop. The course distance is 12.7 miles (20.5 km) with nearly 1000 m / 3281 ft of ascent. The event is a counter in the 2026 English Fell Running Championships.
The route follows the old packhorse way out of Old Glossop to the Pennine Way, then goes to Higher Shelf Stones and Lower Shelf Stones. After rejoining Doctors Gate the course climbs James Thorn via Shelf Benches and returns to Old Glossop by way of Dog Rock, Torside Clough and Cock Hill. Sections include open moorland and areas with no clear paths, and navigational skills are required. Checkpoints are placed on the course.
