Doctors Gate Fell Race takes place on Saturday 21 February 2026 and is a counter in the 2026 English Fell Running Championships. The event starts and finishes at the Queen's Arms, Shepley Street in Old Glossop (SK13 7RZ). The minimum age for entry is 18. Entry fees listed for pre-entry are £15.00 for FRA members and £16.00 for non-members. There is a maximum field of 400 and a waiting list will be used if the event becomes full. Entries reserved as guaranteed places must be submitted by 9 January 2026. Additional entry windows are set for FRA members and for any remaining places.

Course and race information

The route is a fell race of 12.7 miles with nearly 3000 ft of ascent. The course follows the old packhorse route out of Old Glossop to the Pennine Way, then to Higher Shelf Stones and Lower Shelf Stones, returns to Doctors Gate, climbs James Thorn via Shelf Benches, and finishes back at Old Glossop via Dog Rock, Torside Clough and Cock Hill. Two winter races from Great Owl Running on 24 January 2026 at Kirkstall Bridge. A roughly 16 km multi terrain route follows the canal and River Aire while a 10 km out and back runs along the canal.

Run the Petzl Night Runner at Rivington under head torch light, choosing 10 km or a half marathon on glow in the dark trail signage. Expect rough, boggy, rocky terrain, a finisher medal and lively post race buzz.

Take on The Half & Half 10 km on 25 January 2026 at Sowerby Bridge for a split terrain challenge. Rugged muddy trails and obstacles give way to a tarmac finish, entries are limited to 100 and hoodies are available to pre order.

Tigger Tor is a classic winter fell race from Fox House on 25 January 2026, taking runners across Houndkirk, Burbage and Hathersage Moors in a 14.2 km course with 490 m of climb. Navigation and mandatory kit make it a true fell challenge.
