Dark Skies Series

The Dark Skies Series is a night trail running series in Somerset for winter 2026/27. The series includes four events, with the rescheduled Moonlit Meadow Run starting the series on 14 November 2026. Events take place at Longrun Meadow in Taunton, Brean Down in Brean, and the Mendip Activity Centre in Churchill.

Each event offers two route options:

  • 5 km route option
  • 10 km route option

Entrants may register for individual events or choose a full series booking that covers all four events. All entrants can order a bespoke wooden finisher's medal before the event, creating the opportunity to collect a medal at each event in the series.

Event entries are shown with individual event prices at £21.00. Series bookings are listed at £80.00 for the full set of four races for either the 5 km series or the 10 km series. The series schedule and locations are:

A trail running event using a heritage steam train between Minehead and Bishops Lydeard, offering 11 km, 11 mile and marathon options. Routes include the Quantock Hills ridgeline and sections of the Steam Coast Trail and England Coast Path.

Three coastal trail races of 32.5, 18.5 and 10 miles follow the Wales Coast Path along the Vale of Glamorgan, with waymarked routes, staffed checkpoints, and coach transport for the linear course finishing at Ogmore-by-Sea.
