Crag Fell Handicap Race

The Crag Fell Handicap Race is a fall race organised by Cumberland Fell Runners at Bleach Green, Ennerdale on 5th December 2026. The event uses a handicap format, with individual start times allocated in advance. The route rises to the Crag Fell summit and returns to the start location.

The course distance is 4 km (listed also as 2.5 miles) with total ascent of 410 m (approximately 1345 ft). The route is categorised AS and checkpoints include the start, Crag Fell summit, and the finish, each identified by grid references. The minimum age for entry is 14.

Pre-entry is required; the organisers allocate start times for entrants. The event traditionally operates a prize exchange where runners provide a prize at registration. Parking is available free in the United Utilities yard near the venue.

Participants are asked to carry required kit including a waterproof jacket and trousers, hat, gloves, map, compass, and whistle. The race holds a permit and associated UK Athletics insurance from the Fell Runners Association. At the organiser’s discretion, kit requirements may be reduced on the day. Results are published in time order and in handicap finish order for each running of the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
