Course, entries and logistics

The route is an out-and-back from Bleach Green to the Crag Fell summit and back, with checkpoints at the start, the summit, and the finish. Grid references for start, summit and finish are provided by the organiser. Free parking is available in the United Utilities yard.

There is no entry limit. Pre-entry is required by contacting the organiser; a start time will be assigned and entry on the day is not available. Minimum age is U15. Required kit includes waterproof jacket, waterproof trousers, hat, gloves, map, compass and whistle. The organiser may reduce kit requirements on race day. Results are published for previous years. Join the classic Sale Fell Race at Sale Fell near Wythop Mill, a testing 3.7 mile fell run with 900 ft of ascent and hilltop views. Friendly to juniors and veterans, it mixes competition with scenic countryside.

Recce the Lakeland 100 route, 26 miles from Coniston to Buttermere, on 23 November 2025. For confirmed 2026 entrants only; coach transport, medical cover and checkpoints provided, but expect rough ground and possible night finishes.
