Cape Mountain Trail Runs
Cape Mountain Trail Runs are loop trail races held on Cape Mountain in the Siuslaw National Forest, staged at Horse Creek Campground about 15 miles north of Florence, Oregon. The courses run on miles of singletrack through moss-draped old growth rainforest, creek canyons, and coastal headland meadows with summit and meadow views. Cape Mountain rises nearly 1500 feet above sea level from Sea Lion Point.
The event offers multiple distances:
- 50K loop course
- 25K loop course
- 10K loop course
Registration includes a fully marked course, parking, timing and results, full service aid stations, medical support and communications, post race food and beverages, custom finisher awards, and professional photography. Race shirts and hats are sold separately and are not included with registration. Event parking is free but limited; most parking is along the road shoulder of Forest Road 58 and campsite parking is first come first served. The Horse Creek Campground has no drinking water or electricity and campground fees apply.
The event has a beneficiary relationship with Siuslaw High School Cross Country and Track and Field programs. The Cape Mountain 10K participates in the USATF Mountain, Ultra, Trail Youth Initiative with discounted youth registration and a limited number of free youth entries. The event is on hiatus in 2026.
