Cape Fear Holiday Run - December 13, 2025

The first annual Cape Fear Holiday Run takes place at Cape Fear Shiner Park in Lillington, North Carolina. The event is a timed trail race run on a loop of 1.17-mile that includes trail surface with a short paved section. The event format uses electronic timing provided by Clockwork Race Timing.

Format, facilities and rules

The event offers the following timed events:

  • 9-hour timed event
  • 6-hour timed event
  • 3-hour timed event

One on-course aid station will provide water, Gatorade, soft drinks, and a variety of snacks. The event is cup-less; participants are asked to bring reusable cups, handheld bottles, or hydration packs. Limited disposable cups will be available. There is ample parking and space for participants to set up a personal aid station near the start/finish. Porta-potties will be available on site in 2025; permanent restroom facilities are planned for the future.

All finishers receive a finisher's medal. Awards will be given to the top three male and top three female finishers in each timed event, plus a special award for holiday attire. Registration opens January 1, 2025 and closes December 10, 2025 (11:59 PM ET). All proceeds will be donated to the Harnett Food Pantry. Trail runs nearby

Run or hike at Raven Rock State Park on January 4 with a 5 mile run, 5 mile untimed hike, or a challenging 25K. Expect scenic creekside single track, rocky technical sections, medals for all finishers, and limited spots and parking.

Run the scenic trails at Harris Lake County Park in Raleigh for the Viking Dash, offering 5K and 10K distances. Cross the line for a Viking longship medal and compete for top overall and age group awards.

Tackle rugged singletrack and gravel loops at Camp Agapé in Fuquay Varina NC with technical terrain and serious elevation gain. Limited entries, cupless practices encouraged, and 100k runners may use a registered pacer.

Join the Sugg Farm Ultra at Bass Lake Park in Holly Springs for a scenic trail ultramarathon over mulch, gravel, and singletrack. Pick 20, 40 or 50 miles on 5 mile out and back loops with aid stations, a pacer option, and finisher medals.
