Boscastle Scramble

The Boscastle Scramble is a self-navigated marathon of approximately 26.2 miles along the North Cornwall Coast Path from Rock (Posh Rock on the Camel Estuary) to Boscastle. The route passes coastal villages including Polzeath, Port Isaac and Tintagel and follows sections of the South West Coast Path with significant elevation changes.

The event is supported with three manned checkpoints: CP1 New Polzeath (about 4.5 miles in), CP2 Port Isaac (about 12.5 miles in) and CP3 Trebarwith Strand (about 19.5 miles in). Checkpoints provide fluids, salt, sugar and savoury snacks; sandwiches are available at CP2. Each checkpoint has an individual cut-off time and the event overall has a nine hour cut-off.

All runners receive a GPS tracker and must check in at every checkpoint and at the finish. There is a mandatory kit list checked at registration that includes a GPS tracker, whistle, compass (phone app acceptable), reflective or hi vis item, survival bag (not foil blanket), headtorch, waterproof top, long trousers or tights, spare warm top in a waterproof bag, a minimum of one litre of fluid, nutrition, a basic first aid kit, a charged mobile with battery pack, paper with a next of kin mobile number, and emergency cash. Runners must carry a collapsible cup for use at checkpoints and finish.

The finish is at the Wellington Hotel in Boscastle where food and bar facilities are available. All finishers receive a medal and there are awards for the top three male and female finishers. Minimum age is 18. The event forms stage 3 of the Saints and Smugglers 100 Mile Challenge. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
