Bobcat Trail Run 11 Mile
The Bobcat Trail Run is an 11 mile out and back trail race at Cunningham State Park, Manor Parking Area, in Thurmont, Maryland. The course follows the Catoctin Trail (Blue) north from the start, then turns onto the Cat Rock Trail (Yellow) to a turnaround at the Cat Rock trailhead on Route 77. The only aid station is at the turnaround, 5.5 miles from the start. Total elevation gain for the course is approximately 2200 feet.
A notable early section called "Bob's Hill" climbs about 800 feet over 1.5 miles and includes steep, rocky terrain; after the crest the trail remains somewhat rocky but generally runnable. The course reverses direction for the return to the start and finishes at the Manor Parking Area.
The event is organized by Ultrunr. No race day entries are allowed. Entrants and volunteers receive a technical race shirt; there are no overall, place, or age group awards. Shirt sizes and quantities are limited and may run out. Refunds are available minus a $10 processing fee until one month before the event; after that time refunds are not offered.
Time limits require reaching the aid station and finishing within published cutoffs, which translate to a walking pace of about 27 minutes per mile. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
