Bluewater Canyon Trail Race

The Bluewater Canyon Trail Race is an event located on BLM land in Bluewater, New Mexico. The course starts at the Bluewater Canyon parking lot on County Road 29. Participants travel across established dirt roads and rocky sections to reach views of the surrounding mountains, mesas, and the creek below.

The event offers the following options:

The route consists of one mile on a gravel road followed by a climb of over 500 feet to the top of the canyon. The course is designed as an out and back loop. An optional half-mile hike from the finish area leads to a creek where participants can swim.

Registered participants receive custom socks and swag bags. Children aged 14 and under receive t-shirts. Medals are awarded to all finishers, with specific recognition for the top three male and female finishers and the top three children. Dogs are permitted to join provided they follow state and local laws. All registration proceeds are donated to the Cibola Trail Alliance to support local trail systems.
