Event Overview

The Bluewater Canyon Trail Race is held at the Bluewater Canyon Trail Head on BLM land. This out and back course is designed for both runners and walkers. Participants can choose between the following events:

  • 5 Mile Run
  • 5 Mile Walk

The course begins at the Bluewater Canyon parking lot. Participants travel for 1 mile along a gravel road before ascending over 500 feet to the top of Bluewater Canyon. The route follows established dirt roads with some rocky sections and provides views of the surrounding mountains and mesas. Three aid stations are located along the course to provide hydration.

Participant Information

Finishers in both the running and walking categories receive medals. All participants also receive custom socks and other items in their swag bags. Awards in the form of placer t-shirts are given to the top three male and female finishers, as well as the top three participants aged 14 and under.

The finish area features a fruit and beverage buffet. Additionally, a creek with mountain water is located a half mile hike into the canyon from the finish. Pets are permitted at the event provided they follow state and local regulations. Registration must be completed in advance as there is no day-of registration available.
