Bennachie Summer Series 2026

The Bennachie Summer Series consists of four trail running events held once per month from May to August. The series takes place on forest tracks located at the base of Bennachie. Participants compete in a 5 km race that features approximately 126 meters of elevation gain. The schedule for the 2026 series includes events on the following dates:

  • 5 km trail race on 14 May 2026
  • 5 km trail race on 11 June 2026
  • 5 km trail race on 9 July 2026
  • 5 km trail race on 13 August 2026

The competition uses a cumulative logic where final results are calculated based on the combined best three times out of the four scheduled races. Prizes are awarded to the top three finishers in the series.

Both the registration and the race start are located at the Bennachie Visitor Centre. Participants must be at least 18 years old on the day of the race. The event is conducted under Scottish Hill Runners guidelines and rules. The route is marked for runners, and toilet facilities are available at the start and finish areas.

Limited water is provided at the finish line only. Parking is available at the Visitor Centre, though participants are responsible for any individual parking charges. Participation requirements include wearing appropriate footwear for forest terrain and weather conditions. Headphones and dogs are not permitted during the event.
