BC Backyard Ultra

BC Backyard Ultra is hosted at Sicamous Public Beach Park in Sicamous, British Columbia. The event supports the Canadian Championship Series and Big Dog's Backyard Ultra World Championship. The route lies within the Traditional Territory of the Southern Secwepemc First Nation.

The Backyard format requires runners to complete a loop of 6,705.6 m (4.167 miles) every hour. Three minutes before the top of the hour three whistles sound, two minutes before two whistles, and one minute before one whistle. When the bell rings at the start of the hour runners must be ready and in the starting chute. When one runner remains they complete a final victory loop. There is only one winner; all other participants are recorded as DNF.

The event hosts 125 racers and there is no waitlist. Participants must be at least 19 years old on race day. Entry fee is 175 CAD plus GST and UltraSignup fees. American Express and Discover cards are not accepted. Registrations are transferable until April 10, 2026 for a 20 CAD administration fee; no transfers are allowed after that date. Lewiston Ultra Events does not offer refunds.

The course mixes non-technical trail and pavement with less than 20 m of elevation gain or loss and includes a central staging area for community support. The race is an approved Silver Ticket event and has historically awarded silver coins, invitations to Canadian championship events, and in some years cash prizes and at-large World Championship opportunities.
