About the race
The Penyagolosa Trails take place in the Penyagolosa massif in the province of Castelló, a rugged and almost unspoilt area marked by medieval villages, monasteries and Mediterranean vegetation. The event brings together about 2,100 participants and comprises multiple races that appear on the event programme, including the MiM and the CSP.
Most of the route runs along the GR 33 trail. The event traces a long local tradition: its origins go back to the 1950s, when local mountaineers and walkers recreated the practice of reaching the sanctuary of Sant Joan de Penyagolosa from the city of Castellón.
Organisers publish editions, participant lists and regulations for each year. For 2027 a date was announced for 24 April 2027. The event has ongoing collaborations with partners such as Cajamar, and recent editions have included live coverage produced by a team of more than 25 people.
