A Coventry Way Challenge

A Coventry Way Challenge follows the officially recognised circular path that circumnavigates the city of Coventry. Due to route deviations this year the challenge covers 41.4 miles; the traditional route length is 40 miles. The majority of the route is off-road and passes through mainly agricultural land in Warwickshire and Solihull.

The event is held annually and aims for participants to complete the whole circular route in a single day (effectively 16 hours). It is open to individual walkers and runners and to relay teams of up to six members. All relay team members' details must be entered and team changeovers should take place at a checkpoint.

There are five reasonably evenly spaced checkpoints providing food, drinks and encouragement. Entrants are required to bring their own mug. Checkpoints and their mileages are:

  • Crackley Lane lay-by - 7.9 miles
  • Bubbenhall - 15.9 miles
  • Brinklow - 23.5 miles
  • Barnacle Village Hall - 29.0 miles
  • Breach Oak Lane - 35.0 miles

Registration issues a laminated entrant number card which must be shown to obtain the tracker and at checkpoints and the finish so times can be recorded. Each entrant will be issued a tracker (one per relay team) which must be returned at the finish or at a checkpoint if retiring.

Challenge entries are limited to 250. Entries open 1 November 2025 and will close on 13 March 2026 or when the limit is reached. Entry fees are Solo £24.00 and Relay £48.00. The 40-page Map & Route Description Booklet will not be available this year; route details are provided online. The Start and Finish are at the Heart of England Social Club, Berkswell Road, Meriden, CV7 7LB. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
