Zoar Merry Miles
Zoar Merry Miles is a community running event held in Zoar on December 5. The main event is a 5K run/walk that goes around and through the village decorated for the Christmas season. The course is a mix of roads and trail with a few moderate hills, passes the Zoar Garden, crosses an iron bridge, and runs by wetlands before returning to the village.
- 5K Run/Walk on roads and trails with moderate hills.
- Kid's Fun Run (10 & Under), just under half a mile, untimed; a family member may accompany.
Because parts of the trail are narrow and have tree roots, strollers are not permitted. Dogs on a fixed leash are allowed on the course. Snacks and refreshments at the finish line include cookies, soup, water, hot chocolate, granola bars, and fruit.
Event apparel and awards: 5K participants may receive a long-sleeved T-shirt in adult sizes XS to 2XL or select a no-shirt option for a $5 discount; T-shirts are limited after November 13. All 5K finishers receive a locally handcrafted finisher medal and the Kid's Fun Run gets a kid's medal. Awards are given to the top three overall female and male finishers and the top three female and male finishers in the following age groups: 9-Under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+.
Registration fees for the 5K vary by date: through September 7 $25, through October 30 $30, through December 4 $35, and through race day $40. Race registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
