About the race
The Zoar Merry Miles takes place on December 5 in the village of Zoar. The event features a main 5K Run/Walk and a Kid’s Fun Run for ages 10 and under, held on a course that passes local landmarks.
- 5K Run/Walk around and through the village
- Kid’s Fun Run (10 and under), just under half a mile
The course is a mix of roads and trail with a few moderate hills. It passes the Zoar Garden, crosses an iron bridge, goes by wetlands, and follows a trail that leads back into the village. Some trail sections are narrow and contain tree roots; for this reason strollers are not permitted. Dogs on a fixed leash are allowed on the course.
Finish-line refreshments include cookies, soup, water, hot chocolate, granola bars, and fruit. All 5K finishers receive a locally handcrafted finishers medal; Kid’s Fun Run participants receive a kid’s medal. The 5K also has a long-sleeved t-shirt option in adult sizes X-Small to 2X-Large or a no t-shirt option with a $5 discount. T-shirt availability is limited after November 13.
Awards are given to the top three overall female and male finishers and to the top three female and male finishers in each defined age group. Race registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
