About the race

The Zillertaler Steinbockmarsch and the Steinbocklauf are mountain events held in Ginzling in the Zillertal Alps. The route for both formats is approximately 30 km long and includes significant uphill sections, with an ascent reported as 1,871 m and steep sections of about 25–30°; one part of the route includes a 3 km climb to the Mörchnerscharte. The march is presented as a long day tour through the Naturpark Zillertaler Alpen aimed at participants who want to enjoy the mountain scenery. The run is a competitive format where many athletes complete the distance in roughly 3–5 hours.

The event has a long history, first held in 1964, and regularly draws hundreds of participants from different countries. A festival follows the sporting activities with food, music and activities including a LIFE RADIO mud event and an athlete reception. Local tourism partner TVB Mayrhofen-Hippach is listed as a contact for accommodation options.

Organiser information lists the Freiwillige Feuerwehr Ginzling in A-6295 Ginzling. For the 2027 edition all start places have been allocated and there is no waiting list; registration for that edition is closed. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
